Next up in our ‘Take five with’ series is Dave Mallalieu, ICG’s head of digital. See what Dave had to say…
Tell us a little bit about your job
I head up the digital department at ICG, managing clients online solutions and SEO offering.
I attend initial meetings with clients, work with them to plan out what their online presence should be and then put into action a solution that answers their marketing needs. I work closely with our designers and developers to make sure everything is seamless from the user experience through to the finished technical build.
If you weren’t ICG’s head of digital, what would you be doing?
As a graphic designer, I’m a creative person, so I’d have to say that I’d still need to fill that creative void. I love photography so I’d like to think I would have pursued this and have become a professional photographer.
What’s on your desk right now?
An apple (the fruit), my iPad and a Moleskine notebook to jot all my thoughts down in.
“I never let a day go by without…”
Checking my to-do list and creating a job list for the day. I start each day by reviewing the workload and planning the day ahead.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
First decide what it is you want to say, then decide how you are going to say it. This is such a simple mantra but one I think so many people fail to take notice of.
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I’m a qualified open-water diver and have done dives around the world including, America, Thailand, Vietnam and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Name five things you can’t live without
Apart from my fiancé, which would be the soppy answer… My iPad/iPhone, music, cheese, Manchester City and the internet.
Finally, we’re about to put the kettle on, how would you like your brew?
Strong white coffee, no sugar.
