Getting on the career ladder is never easy; throw in a global pandemic and the job becomes even harder.
That’s why ICG was happy to chat to students from Blackpool and The Fylde College during National Careers Week (1-6th March).
We hosted a virtual workshop with computing and digital technologies students to give insights into ‘agency life’ explaining what we do, how we do it and what it’s like.
Creative Director Simon Couchman, Developer Kyle Minto, a former student at the college, Account Manager, Abi Blundell and Senior Account Manager, Julie Hackett took part.
We talked about how the pandemic has accelerated digital communications, the importance of meeting clients’ changing needs and the value new members of staff bring to the wider team.
There was some great feedback from Senior Tutor, Colette Mazzola-Randles.
When students were asked what they enjoyed about the session, they said ‘speaking to real life people in the industry’ and ‘very informative to learn industry practices … great to learn how certain frameworks and languages are used’.
Alongside National Careers Week, it’s also International Women’s Day on March 8th. ICG is once again supporting the Fylde’s IWD Festival which takes place this Saturday – we will be hosting two workshops to talk about careers in marketing. We’ve also invited a goat onto the workshop – we’ll tell you more of that later!
