Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again where we begin our festive season of giving with our fifth round of Give Back Fridays!
First up is a donation to the local ‘Get Danny Home’ fundraising campaign led by Nigel Flemen who is on a mission to get his 13-year-old son home and out of hospital.
In 2022, Daniel was diagnosed with a low grade glioma brain tumour triggering a series of detrimental side effects that have resulted in two emergency operations and extensive stays in intensive care.
Since his diagnosis, Danny has been staying at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital with his mum, needing round- the-clock care and respiratory assistance.
He is now showing signs of slight improvement physically, cognitively and, just last month, with his communication!
The fundraising will enable the family to move to a larger home that will be adapted to suit Danny’s needs.
Danny’s dad Nigel, who works full time while juggling family life and other two children at home, said: “Thank you so much for your support. We are getting ever closer to getting Danny home, raising £55,000 so far!
“It’s only with help from good people like yourselves which will get him home.
“This past month Danny has spoken for the first time in 15 months with his physio and occupational therapist seeing improvements, there are so many positives to take forward into 2025!”
Research conducted from the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital has shown that the family needs to raise £100,000 to be able to adapt their new house to be suitable for Daniel and his needs.
Any support in helping ‘Get Danny Home’ is greatly appreciated this festive season.
